Novak Djokovic has taken to social media to thank everyone for their support, reiterating his determination to stay in the country and play at the Australian Open.
“I’m pleased and grateful that the Judge overturned my visa cancellation. In spite of all that has happened, I want to stay and try to compete @AustralianOpen. I remain focused on that,” Djokovic said on Twitter with a photo showing him and his team after a training session.
“I flew here to play at one of the most important events we have in front of the amazing fans. For now I cannot say more but THANK YOU all for standing with me through all this and encouraging me to stay strong.”
A judge had earlier quashed the cancellation of the world number one player’s visa in connection with coronavirus rules but Immigrantion Minister Alex Hawke could still cancel the visa again.
